Closet Door Makeover

Our linen closets were in need of a refresh. I could have simply cleaned them out, but I chose to take it to the next level with a complete overhaul. In this blog post, I’ll show how I did a closet door makeover to completely transform the space.

I decided to change out our sliding doors with bifold doors so that we could fully access the items in the closet. I bought these doors because they were significantly cheaper than other doors I found that fit my style.

First, I primed the wood using Kilz primer and gently sanded them to give me a nice smooth surface for the paint.

Then, I applied two coats of Aspen Stone by Magnolia Home to the doors. This paint has excellent coverage! I love how it provides a nice, rich color but isn’t quite a stark black.

I easily removed the gold detail on the glass with my razor scraper. However, the pattern on the glass was a totally different story. I honestly could not find anything to cover up the pattern except for paint. I had several paint samples in my garage and finally found one that blended with the pattern. So, I painted the inside of the glass!

Finally, I finished off the doors with reeded glass film, and some fun hardware. I absolutely love how the doors and the whole closet turned out.
