Paint is one of the easiest ways to update a space. I have proved before that just changing the paint color in a room can change the entire feel. Farrow & Ball Pigeon No. 25 is considered a blue/gray color. But don’t be fooled if you see some green color popping thru! Pigeon would be considered a warm color and pairs well with warmer white colors and wood accents.
Farrow And Ball Pigeon LRV
Pigeon has a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 35, categorizing it as a medium dark to dark color. LRV, is a measurement indicating the lightness or darkness of a color. Ranges go from 1 (pure black) to 100 (pure white).
When using Pigeon in a well lit room you will get more of that medium color to pop! In a darker space Pigeon will appear a lot darker, making the space to appear more moody.
Farrow And Ball Pigeon Undertones
If you have ever fought with the task of picking a paint color for a space you know how stressful undertones can be. An undertone is what gives the paint color a warm, cool or neutral feel.
When picking a paint color like Pigeon it’s important to know that a color can look different in every room or your house. Depending on lighting, whether it’s natural light or artificial the color can look lighter or darker.
Farrow & Ball Pigeon No. 25 is a blue/gray paint color that has green undertones. In a well lit room, you will see more of that green color pop! But, in a darker space with no natural light Pigeon might come off more blue/gray.
Where Can You Use Farrow And Ball Pigeon?
Farrow & Ball Pigeon can be used just about anywhere you like. I’ve seen a lot of people use it on their cabinets in their kitchen, mudroom and laundry room. I actually painted our whole laundry room/closet Pigeon.
I love seeing the pop of color it brings to that space. Dare I might say it makes doing laundry just a little bit more enjoyable!
Another space I have used Pigeon No. 25 is in our bedroom. Recently, I made a custom built-in in our bedroom out of IKEA Pax units and painted them the color Pigeon. I loved it so much that when I went to add an accent wall to our room I decided to paint the whole room Pigeon.
When painting my whole room I decided to have the paint store mix the color at 50%. This provided a slight contrast between the built-ins and the walls and ceiling.
One tip I have for doing this is make sure you buy enough paint for your space so that you don’t have to get more from the store. When I did this I had to buy more paint and somewhere along the line the colors were different! Talk about a headache.
Final Thoughts
Pigeon can look good in just about any space, especially on cabinets! You can go as bold as using it as your main color in a room, or use it as an accent color. It’s considered a blue/gray paint color but definitely has undertones of green.
Overall, I am a big fan of Farrow & Ball Pigeon and will probably use it more in the future. Let me know, have you used Pigeon in your home?!
