Scrap Wood Projects That Anyone Can Do
1. DIY Large Serving Tray
During our kitchen renovation I had a small gap in the bottom cabinets that I could have just closed up with trim but decided to add a custom slot with a pull out DIY serving tray. Making a DIY large serving tray can be a fun beginner project. You can customize its shape, size and color.
I chose to use leftover scrap oak but really any type of wood would work!
2. Entryway Bench
Another great scrap wood project would be to create a bench. In our last house I wanted to refresh this space and ended up making this upholstered entryway bench. To read a full step-by-step tutorial just click here: How To Make An Upholstered Entryway Bench.
3. Decorative Tray With Leather Handles
Turning scrap wood into a decorative tray is an excellent project idea! Virtually any wood type is suitable for this, allowing you to tailor the dimensions to your preference. For a personalized touch, consider attaching stylish leather handles or repurposing drawer handles on the sides. This not only adds functionality but also elevates the aesthetic appeal of your custom-made tray.
4. DIY Herb Planter
If you have a green thumb and love gardening or cooking this herb planter is a great scrap wood project! It doesn’t require much wood and when your done it can sit in a window or even on your kitchen counter like I did.
5. Wooden Mountain Wall Art
If you’re looking for a easy wall art idea, this mountain art out of scrap 1×2’s is exactly what you need. My son’s wall needed something to go above the bed and with the whole room being painted Iron Ore I needed the wall art to stand out. With some extra scrap pieces of wood I came up with this mountain scene! To read the full tutorial click here: How To Make Mountain Wall Art.
